Gandhinagar, Thursday: Chief Minister of the state Mr. Vijay Rupani has been sensitive towards migrant labourers amidst the lockdown. In order to ensure their safety and welfare, the state government has operated 349 labour trains to arrange the safe return of 4 lakh 70 thousand migrant workers.
Providing details of the same, Secretary to the CM, Mr.Ashwani Kumar said,
“9 lakh 85 thousand migrant labourers have returned to their respective states from across the country. Out of this, Gujarat has sent the maximum number of migrants back to their home states. 3 lakh 95 thousand migrant labourers have been sent by the state government comprising 40% of the total migrant workforce who have travelled amidst the lockdown. 47 trains will be operated to send 75,200 workers to U.P, Bihar, Orissa, M.P, Chattisgarh and other states . Out of this , 37 will be for UP, 4 for Bihar, 2 for Orissa and 1 each for Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, M.P and Uttarakhand. 15 trains will be operated from Surat, 11 from Ahmedabad, 5 from Rajkot, 2 each from Bharuch, Gandhidham and Vapi and the remaining from other districts.”
302 Shramik trains have been operated until yesterday midnight. Around 3 lakh 95 thousand labourers have travelled to Bihar, UP, Chattisgarh , Jharkhand, Orissa and other states through them Out of 302 trains, 204 trains have been sent to U.P, 34 trains for Bihar, 30 trains for Orissa, 20 trains for M.P, 8 trains for Jharkhand, 3 trains for Chattisgarh and 2 trains for Uttarakhand.
